Reddit / LinkedIn marketing tips 💡

Don’t get banned!

gm! This is No Niche, where I live post my entrepreneurial wins, fails and tips. Why take risks when I can do it for you?

(disclaimer: biz = business)

Here’s what’s cooooooking in today’s issue:

  • How to market in Reddit / LinkedIn community groups 🔊

  • ‘greenCommerce’ hype and its impact to your biz🌲

  • How pure offline and sensory experiences can increase sales 💵

MARKETING OUTSIDE THE TL 🎯

Use Subreddits. Read the community rules and obey them to avoid being banned. Reddit can be very anti self-promo, so tailor your message to add value and help others, and subtly include links to your site where relevant.

Here are some (kind of) self promo friendly subreddits for founders that want to promote their biz in and get user feedback:

💡 Tool tip! gummysearch.com is also a good tool to use which helps you find key words related to your biz.

Example: I run foundersowl.com which helps identify target audiences for founders. I search for the term ‘target audience’ using gummy, which then locates current trending subreddits with this search term. I can target them with tailored messages to gain exposure and potential customers - or get feedback on my biz. Nice time-saver.

LinkedIn Groups. The same rules apply. Ensure you read community rules to avoid being banned! To find specific groups that are relevant to your biz, simply google ‘LinkedIn [insert your start-up industry or audience] group’.

Here are some active (10+ posts a day) start-up themed LinkedIn communities to engage people / potential customers in:

  • Startup specialists network - (sort of self-promo friendly) ensure to use appropriate headers when posting, like Promotions, Feedback Request, etc.

  • Bright Ideas & Entrepreneurs - (not really self-promo friendly) use this group to add value to other posts with feedback, and request for your biz landing page or idea - this could bring indirect interest to your biz!

INTERESTING TRENDS TO CAPITILISE ON 🎯

1/ greenCommerce: 70% of consumers in the U.S. say they would change their shopping habits (i.e. switch products or pay more) if the product lessened negative environmental impacts.

No Niche Take: can this be applied to your SaaS? Or a skill / service based offering? Maybe there are ways to make your tech or process more environmentally friendly, and market that to the customer on our landing pages too.

2/ Brick & Mortar: Allbrands in the U.S. increased store foot traffic by removing their online presence and focusing purely in an offline, sensory brand experience for consumers - specifically with fabrics!

Stonks.

No Niche Take: now I’m not saying to remove your landing page and focus on a pop up store with scented candles - that wouldn’t be good for biz (unless you sell scented candles).

But is there an opportunity for you to do in person marketing with a pop up stand in a busy location, with a physical representation of your landing page? Or maybe creating interactive, sensory focused UI elements on your website - like pleasing sounds when a button is clicked, or sliders that change the colour of a title?

That’s all for today! Thanks for reading. Oh, and this is not strategic advice. Merely recommendations 🙂 so please do your research + assess any suggestions against your own goals & needs, before making a decision!!
